![]() ![]() Lara handles like she’s taken 50g of coke and has the survival instincts of a depressed lemming. They are identical in every map, no unique looking relics with interesting little factoids to find here. The lack of care towards the doodads is a real shame. The fact that she does this in her own family crypt is either extremely self-aware, or extremely brain dead… and I can’t decide which. Smashing the pots is both archaeologically unsound and also an annoying extra mechanic.Either way, it sparked a lot of joy for me. I honestly can’t tell if it was played over the top to make it terrible, or is just terribly over the top. Now I hasten to add, this doesn’t mean combat is good just better. The actual object movement is much improved as well, with blocks actually sliding around and not getting stuck on single pixels randomly. Combat is much improved, with multi way targeting, lock on, and a much smoother run and gun feel.Well the QoL improvements are back, I don’t know if this strictly qualifies as a pro to the game ‘they put back in features they arbitrarily took away from us’ doesn’t seem like much of a selling point, but I’m glad they’re back and they made the game play so much more cleanly. There are NO boss fights, and no situation can’t be solved by running in a circle while pewpewing. Opponents seem to be spawned in to provide a little extra challenge to the platforming elements, as opposed to acting as skill gates for sections. This instalment sees Lara complete her descent into madness and sociopathy as she murders her way through swathes of mercenaries and rare and endangered species, and loses her ♥♥♥♥ fairly often. Because all the mythical afterlives are the same, and why not, I guess. Our favourite grave robber is still searching for Avalon, and we find her looking for Norse artefacts in the Mediterranean. TR:Underworld is closer to a 3d platformer than puzzle/action/adventure. It’s very much about what you want from a tomb raider game. I’ll start off by stating outright, TR:Underworld did not deserve this thumbs up in the slightest… However, the only thing it deserved less was a thumbs down. TLDR: Either perfectly terrible, or just terrible… This could be exactly what you want from a third person adventure, or it could be the worst you’ve ever played. ![]()
